ABOUT US
Welcome to Nature Navigators
The Nature Navigators initiative was established in 2022, with the primary goal of fostering a connection between children and nature. Our project revolves around utilizing nature’s elements (loose parts) that correspond to specific seasons and months and are tailored to suit the children’s age groups.
Our activity materials consist of natural elements such as cotton string, wool, clay, wood, bamboo, and beeswax (depending on the monthly activities). We offer a variety of hands-on activities that encourage children to unleash their creativity, sense of wonder, and exploration spirit.
Each session comes fully equipped with the necessary materials, detailed instructions, and nature-related discoveries that educate children on the seasonal cycles, plants, insects, earth, and rainwater. Our activities cater to children up to 9 years old, drawing inspiration from Steiner-Waldorf schools, Forest school, and Montessori education.
On occasion, we incorporate recycled items like old jars, boxes, containers, egg crates, and yogurt boxes into our activities. We have observed that teachers, from kindergartens to schools, appreciate these activities since they cover essential aspects of early learning.
The majority of our activities involve children discovering and utilizing objects from nature, which can be easily found during strolls in gardens or nearby parks. Our programs are designed to help children appreciate the enchanting aspects of each season.
The activities’ content strikes the perfect balance between creativity, nature, and multi-sensory learning, providing structure to a child’s day. Our gardening activities include worksheets, organic seeds, peat, and marker sticks. To make the activities accessible to children without gardens, we supply natural peat in all garden kits, enabling anyone to start and grow seeds regardless of their available space.
We conduct our sessions outdoors at the picturesque Al Barari Playground area. Our programs operate from October to June.
Nature Navigators is a licensed business by the DED.
Hello,
My name is Mirella and I am the proud mother of an adorable power-flower girl. I am passionate about a project that involves reconnecting children with nature in a personal way. As a mother, I have seen the joy and excitement in my daughter C’s eyes as she holds small flowers, touches and smells the earth, picks and eats vital food. Through gardening with my little one, I have come to believe that play in the garden is essential for children to acquire and improve crucial skills, have fun, and develop self-confidence in a nature-friendly, Montessori-style childhood.
I have always loved the earth for its smell and structure and appreciate the miracle of creation at every step. I strongly believe that all children should have the opportunity to interact with plants, vegetables, insects, and the changing seasons. My qualifications include a Master’s degree in Communication and Media, a Diploma in the Wanderlust Child Nature Study program recognized by the UK accredited institute K.Smith, and certification as an Early Years teacher.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me, and I look forward to sharing the Magic of the Seasons with you.
Best regards,
Mirella
